This unusual theatrical project unfolds as a curated urban walk. You follow a carefully designed route while immersing yourself in a layered soundscape created specifically for the city. Through headphones, the city begins to speak: music, street noise, and recorded narratives accompany you every step of the way.
The performance lasts approximately 100 minutes, and the route covers about 3.5 kilometers.
The journey begins along the Anhor Canal embankment, near the Hammersmith café, and continues through the heart of the city. Along the way, the route passes the “Ilkhom” Theatre, “Panorama” Cinema (Alisher Navoi Cinema Palace), the Chess School, “Shodlik” Hotel, “Turkestan” Palace, Mustaqillik Square, the Romanov Palace, and the Alisher Navoi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. The final stop is the terrace of the Lotte Hotel.
At the heart of the performance are real memories of Tashkent residents, archival materials, and literary texts. Among them is Dina Rubina’s novel “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, which captures the distinctive atmosphere of old Tashkent. The recording features the voices of well-known figures closely associated with the city, including Seydulla Moldakhanov, Boris Gafurov, Gleb Golender, Ali Khamraev, and others.
As you walk, the city reveals itself in a new way. Through stories of love and loss, hope and disappointment, childhood and belonging, the echoes of ancient Tashkent resonate with the rhythm of the modern metropolis.
This is not a conventional guided tour, but an invitation to experience familiar places differently, and to listen to their stories.
