As of November 22, travelers from Kazakhstan and Armenia have a new, streamlined option for cross-border trips: Kazakh citizens can now enter Armenia using only their national ID card. The same rule applies to Armenian travelers, who may enter Kazakhstan with their ID card as well.

Citizens of both countries are allowed to stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without needing any additional documents.

Planning to stay longer? In that case, travelers must obtain a temporary residence permit in advance. The requirement to register with local authorities after the first 30 days of stay also remains in force.

The agreement was ratified in October by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
