How would you personally describe Oman to someone who has never been there?

Oman is a country that combines a rich history with stunning and diverse natural landscapes. It boasts beautiful beaches, towering mountains, and golden deserts. The Omani people are known for their generosity and hospitality. What distinguishes Oman is its ability to merge tradition with modernity, maintaining heritage while embracing the future.

Which destinations or places in Oman would you consider must-visit for tourists from Central Asia?

From October to March, I recommend visiting Oman’s coastal areas, including the capital Muscat, and the interior regions to explore their distinctive architecture and traditional markets. Jebel Akhdar, with its breathtaking mountainous scenery, is also a must. During July, August, and September, I suggest visiting Salalah, which transforms into a lush green landscape during the Khareef season, blending mountains and sea beautifully.

What key tourism initiatives are currently being implemented in Oman?

Oman focuses on promoting sustainable tourism through environmentally friendly projects and developing adventure activities such as diving, climbing, and desert exploration. The country also highlights its rich heritage through festivals, including the Muscat Festival in winter, which features arts, heritage, and entertainment, and the Salalah Tourism Festival in summer, coinciding with the Khareef season, attracting visitors with natural beauty and cultural events.

Oman enjoys a very high level of safety, consistently ranking among the top countries in global safety indexes. How do tourists experience this?

Tourists in Oman feel a high level of safety wherever they go, whether in modern cities or remote villages. This is due to the peaceful and open nature of the Omani people, as well as the ongoing efforts of the authorities to maintain security throughout the country.

In your opinion, what steps could help increase tourism exchange between Oman and the countries of Central Asia?

Key steps include launching direct flights to facilitate travel, organizing joint promotional campaigns, and hosting tourism exhibitions highlighting the unique attractions of both sides.

Could you also tell us about the current visa regime for citizens of Central Asian countries?

There is a mutual visa exemption between Oman and Central Asian countries. Omani citizens can enter Uzbekistan for 30 days, while Uzbek citizens can enter Oman for 14 days. Omanis can also visit Kazakhstan and Tajikistan visa-free for 30 days, and Kyrgyzstan for 60 days, while Turkmenistan requires an official visa. These facilities help promote cultural and tourist exchange between Oman and the region.

Which place in Oman is your personal source of strength or inspiration?

The beaches in the eastern region and Jebel Akhdar are undoubtedly a retreat for anyone seeking peace away from city noise. The sight of terraced farms and green valleys among rocky landscapes reminds me of God’s greatness, rejuvenates my energy, and inspires hope.

What would you like visitors from Central Asia to feel and take away with them after visiting Oman?

I hope visitors from Central Asia experience the warmth and hospitality of Oman, and take with them memories of the diverse natural beauty—from mountains and deserts to pristine coastlines—along with an appreciation of Omani heritage and culture. I want them to leave feeling a sense of belonging and respect for Omani identity, with an experience that inspires and creates unforgettable memories.
