Few people know that the Hissar fortress in Tajikistan, which we see today, was built in the 16th century, but the history of this place goes much deeper.
The city itself existed on the territory of Hissar more than 2.5 thousand years ago, long before the appearance of medieval fortifications. Archaeologists and historians note that this valley has long been an important center of life due to its convenient location and fertile lands.
Moreover, in ancient sources related to the Zoroastrian tradition, this area was referred to as “Shumon”, which translates as “forehead of the earth”.
It turns out that the fortress is only a late historical layer, and the Hissar land itself preserves the memory of millennia of successive civilizations in the heart of Central Asia.
