Since the beginning of the year, the Shymbulak ski resort has attracted the greatest interest from tourists. It accounts for nearly a third of all visits—30.6%, according to Kazinform.

Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts favor Big Almaty Lake, Medeu, Charyn Canyon, and Kolsai Lake. Each site accounts for between 3.9% and 7.8% of visits. Those seeking urban entertainment are drawn to MEGA, Arbat Street, and the Central Park of Culture and Leisure.

Cultural and spiritual landmarks are also in high demand. Frequently visited sites include Kok-Tobe, Ascension Cathedral, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Green Bazaar. Visitors also explore the First President’s Park, the Ykhlas Museum of Folk Musical Instruments, and the Almaty Central Mosque.
The mountains remain one of the city’s most visited areas. Infrastructure continues to improve, with cable cars and hiking trails connecting the Shymbulak resort and Oi-Qaragai, making recreation more comfortable and safe for tourists.
Over the first three quarters of this year, Almaty welcomed 563,000 international visitors, an 11% increase compared to the same period last year. In addition, the city is strengthening its position as a medical tourism hub in Central Asia.
