New Year Routes of Astana: Ice Rinks, Slides, and Photo Zones

On the eve of the New Year, Astana has transformed into a vast space for active winter leisure.

Across different districts of the city, dozens of seasonal venues have opened — from ice tracks to pedestrian areas decorated with festive lighting. In total, winter locations are operating at more than 30 sites across the capital.

In the Saryarka district, winter infrastructure has appeared in parks, public squares, and residential neighborhoods. Visitors can stroll among the lights and take photos near New Year installations.

Baikonyr has placed emphasis on public spaces. The main venues are located in parks and cultural areas, as well as in residential courtyards. Many of them are decorated with Christmas trees and festive décor.

In the Esil district, the EXPO area has traditionally become the center of holiday walks. Here, zones for active recreation have been set up and the city’s main Christmas tree has been installed. Winter decorations have also appeared in the Botanical Garden, newly developed squares, and along pedestrian routes.

In the Almaty district, seasonal venues have opened in parks and near waterfront areas. Some locations are situated close to residential neighborhoods, making them convenient for family outings.

Large urban spaces in Sarayshyq have been transformed into winter gathering spots. Venues are open in central squares, parks, and near transport hubs, enhanced with lighting elements and small architectural forms.

The Nura district stands out for its scale. Extended ice tracks, photo zones, and themed decorations have been created here.

Astana’s winter locations are designed for different types of recreation — from active weekends to relaxed evening walks. Most venues are free to access and will remain open throughout the entire season.
